Loader fluid

I have an MF50 equiped with a Davis 101 front end loader. The manual tells me to use Type "A",however Type "A" does not seem to be available any more. What should I use?
I want to completely drain the system, change the filter and re-fill. Any advice on what to use will be appreciated.

THANKS,Les

If you're using tractor hydraulics, I'd use whatever the tractor manual called for; if the hydraulics for the loader are 'separate', use Dexron.

type A trans fluid is the same as mineral oil. early hydraulic fluids and transmission fluids were pretty much the same.

now however...

either plan ole hydraulic fluid for loaders works fine.. or upgrade to tractor hydraulic fluid that has additives for keeping o-rings soft, and additives to fight moisture, so for a bit more money you get a fluid that can be run in any tractor or power steering pump as well as loaders and other hydraulic applications.. every wonder what hydraulic jack oil is????

Does that loader hydraulic oil end up in with wet brakes, wet pto clutch, wet pto brake and hydraulic transmission wet clutch packs?
If so and the oil isn't wet clutch compatible. You will soon have a tractor with new brakes and new clutches.
