New 8N spotted

Was driving down the road the other day when I saw a new 8n at the dealer. And no the seat is not comfortable! It's like sitting on a piece of plywood with foam under it. I took these pics but not sure how to get them on here anymore. http://s253.photobucket.com/albums/hh48/patt305/New%208N/

They have one down at the local dealer . Half of em will get bought up , parked in a shed and covered with a blanket . The other half will go to the 5 a. farmer . Ya should have seen the yuppies climing on it down at the Fair . Other than the 3 pt hitch the 8N was nt much in it s day compared to IH,JD,MH,Case, etc. but it was made in the USA . If NH was gona copy an American Icon they should have let American workers do it !

Here they are.

umm... is there even any american parts on the tractor? other than the vertical grill bars and the color it doesnt even resemble a 8n, and is that actually a windshield i see? i guess so the over bleached socccer mommy on it doesnt get her hair in the wind as she does the chores on the 5 acre ranch while hubby is in the big city making a million a day? sorry just being funny today

I agree! I am about 200 lbs and the step flexes when I got on! I noticed that all the welds on the shinny rails and roll over bars were rusting and that the welds were not really that nice. Sad!

Yes that ring is what made me take that pic. Maybe broke down so much for warranty that it is easy to chain down!? I also noticed brakes are still the wet type. Or not external.

I'm surprised at the exhaust location, it will either send that plume of carbon up to the operators face won't it ? We have a small challenger tractor and the exhaust is like that, problem is it loads up the secondary filter with carbon, they are too close to each other, real poor design, they went with a stack soon after.

"Other than the 3pt. the 8n wasn't much in it's day" well my dad had one and used it every day on a 260 acre dairy farm from 1948 to 1971 and it never failed to do what was asked of it includeing towing some of the other stuff around there to get them started.Mowing hay, raking hay, pulling wagons when needed, belt powering the 10" IHC Hammermill, running the post hole auger,It had a Loader so that was used for numerous jobs and on and on.Granted there were and are many who dislike the little machines but it's former users are many and they cannot be convinced that it was not much use.My Dad who has passed on and myself who spent many hours on the seat of our 8N are among this group.

Chances are that the citidiots that buy these things will never notice the flaws...they're used to buying junk anyway.

I"m sorry, but that reminds me of taking a cute, freckle-faced country girl and trying make her into a Hollywood starlet with heavy make-up and fancy clothes. You generally end up with something that looks like a high-priced streewalker. I rest my case.

I live on less then five acres, and i think that is a really nice machine.

You guys were the ones who taught me not to judge people based on the tractor they drive.

Say what you will.....

From the front it looks almost like a cartoon, I have no experience with them but I wouldn't think that it would compare to the older fords at all.

Brakes are on the left because the tractor is hydrostatic and the hydrastat control is on the left. As far as american parts well newholland is owned by caseih. But unless u buy a 60 horse or bigger there not made around here any of them no matter the color. notice how compact tractors are all lookin the same nowdays and even the biger farm tractors are getin more and more foreign parts from germany and sweden. I think There just tryn to revive a classic tractor.

I agree (remember the "toon" cars in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?"). At least they could have made the sheet metal (sheet plastic?) a better likeness of the original, if they're trying to capture the nostalgia market.

How many HP is it? 45? I bet it's the same thing as the Case 45 my brother demoed a month or so back when the transmission broke in his tractor. It was the most useless peice of crap he ever used he said. Couldn't do the same amount of work with it, even though this was 4x4 and just as many HP, as his Oliver 550. It just couldn't pull the cultivator like the Oliver can.

Decided to fix his old iron instead of give in and by new plastic.

I believe your write. I think I read that they are 45horse. Im with you. The newer tractors just arent built as heavy and tuff as they use to be. The deere dealer was workin hard to get me to trade my 67 4020 in on a new tractor supposedly comperable. It didnt pull my mower conditioner near as well as my tractor that is 43 years older. I trade my bigger farm tractors every 6 years or so cuz I cant afford to be broke down but my smaller hayn tractors ill keep till the end of time if I can.
