I was watching the Nat Geo site tonight and saw a show abou earthmoving equipment. They were showing the 575 Komatsu as the biggest dozer, and it is huge. I got online and was doing a little looking around comparing it to the D11 CAT's, etc and ran across a machine I never knew existed. Check it out, it is HUGE. When your done check out the link at the bottom too for Don Campbell's models. They are amazing.......Enjoy
ACCO dozer

Acco also built the worlds largest grader for the same project. I think they might have even built 2 of them. 1000 HP engine in the rear, 700 HP engine in the front and a 33 ft. blade. It has dual wheels on all axles (12 tires) and weighs around 400,000 lbs! The largest production grader was the champion 100T which weighed 202,000 lbs. The Cat 24H is only 131,000lbs. in comparison. Pretty impressive stuff. Dave

Those are very cool. Out here while constructing the Diamond Valley Reservoir I heard they had to bring those in part by part on semi's due to the massive size. I wonder how it would feel operating one of those machines.

Just don't get stuck or you'll have to wait for someone to build a bigger one to pull you out.

Also, I love the rain caps.

Don lives up north of me here a ways. He used to go to a lot of local toy shows. Builds some pretty amazing stuff. I think my favorite is the Lenco potato harvester. They build those right up here at Vestaburg. You see a lot of'em in the fields around here.

Wayne, that sure is an interesting piece they built, surprised you have not seen that one before.

Another interesting story about custom built equipment is the Peterson Machinery Company, a Caterpillar dealer out west, link to their history is posted below. R.G. LeTourneau is another, they have evolved with some large equipment over the years too.

Hard to realize the demand for such size equipment, but I guess it's out there, so when that D11 just won't cut it, you have to build your own, often wondered what CAT's take was on that ACCO, Peterson sure did quite will with Caterpillar and there custom built projects, some good reading for any earthmoving equipment fan, Peterson really catered to the demand of large civil project contractors it seems.
