We have Femco weather brakes on our tractors. the 2 we have for our Massey's are made by Femco and printed with MF on the side, but the one fr our Oliver 1855 is right from Femco. I'm happy with the quality of them.

The one for our 285 is 25 years old and has seen better days, but it still does the trick. The clear winsheild and sides are shot, but when I found a NOS one for our 165 with a loader, we used the windsheild for it on the 285 as on the 165, they just won't work with the location of the levers and that it needs to fit under the manure auger. Our 1855 doesn't have it on too often as we try to have our feild work done by November 1st, and then it sits until spring feildwork.

I don't know where all of the tractor's controls are located on Deere tractors, but I would keep the entry on the left and loader controls on the right. Doesn't make much difference in my mind having the windsheild or not, unless you're going down the road much. They do block the wind and do some good, but you could also leave only one side off to reach the controls.

As far as how they mount, the brackets that the doors latch to mount to either the fenders or the platform, depending on the tractor. On our Oliver, it mounts to the platform. On our Masseys they bolt to the fenders. Eitherway, they should fit no matter how wide or narrow the tractor is set. If it's pretty narrow, it may be tight but should work out o.k.

This series of Deere has the shift coming out of the dash immediately right of the steering wheel, with a throttle lever mounted on the column coming out just under the steering wheel. The PTO lever is mounted along the right side of the tractor and comes up along the dash roughly parallel to the shift.

Left of the steering wheel is the draft controls. Left foot clutch, right foot, cutting brakes. So either side would require mounting it pretty high; you're likely correct about keeping the valve on the right.
