Anybody have a Shivvers system in your bins? I'm wondering about the size of spreader for the cooling bin when you use a 4" transfer auger. When we put in a new spreader, there are baffles that you need to change for the size auger you are using to fill bin. Just wondering if a spreader for a 8" auger will fill level with only a 4" auger feeding it. Will a gravity feed spreader work on a 4" auger? Chris

What diameter is your cooling bin? Once you get it adjusted right it should work decent but as I remember I had to change it if I increased the volume of incoming grain such as filling with a 8 inch auger versus the 4 inch.

Useing a Spreader ,I assume it is electric, that is geared for an 8" auger with the 4" Shivvers auger,The grain will be spread out against the outer walls of the drying bin. Its like every thing else for the system. It has to be sized for the job.A gravity spreader on a 4" auger will work better than a electric one. Most Drying bins I've seen used with a Shivvers system have a stirring device installed in them such as a Sukup etc.Hot corn has to be moved to complete the drying process. This is what we thought back in the 70's and 80's.
