O/T Patrick Swayze dead at 57

On our first date I took my now wife to Ghost. Last night I got home late, couldn't sleep and watched Uncommon Valor. My favorite though was a Saturday Night Live when he played a Chippen Dale (sp?)dancer with Chris Farley. We were blessed to have them and may they rest in peace.

The scene in "Black Dog", where they take the I-26 Exit to NC, I can see that exit from our shop.. That is a great movie..

A couple I knew got cast as extras in "Dirty Dancing". They spent a over a week on the set. Said Patrick was a real nice guy..

I'd say Red Dawn.

I was a college freshman when that came out. Ohio State Ag School with a bunch of farm boy buddies, back in the day when we still hated Russians..... it really struck a nerve with us.

Makes you stop and think when the stars of[i:4a2e88f5f0] your time [/i:4a2e88f5f0]start to pass away....

Not going to say the movie but will say this and I hope all of you do this.
Have your PSA level checked at least once a year and if high check out why it is the first line of defense for that cancer

Red Dawn was very good. Guerilla warfare on US soil is scary. But it made for a good movie. (I think at the time it was the most violent movie ever made)

I think Roadhouse and some of the other movies were just crap. I didnt know he was 57.

He seemed to be a truly good guy, from what I can tell. I liked all his movies except the one where he played a big-rig trucker being coerced by "bad guys." can't think of the name of that one.

I give him credit for not making a public issue of his disease and not whining about it. He died of the same disease, and the same way, as Michael Landon (Little Joe from Bonanza and pa Ingles on Little House).

Oddly, there's another actor who shows up in many B movies and TV shows, and plays the rural-farmer sort. He looks like Patrick, but a bit more seedy. Just saw him playing the part of a nasty farmer, riding a tractor. Ends up he's Donald Swayze, Patrick's younger brother.

Not so much the movies, but I'll always remember him first from that Chippendale Dirty Dancing skit with Chris Farley on Saturday Night Live - some of the funniest physical comedy I ever saw on that show.

Swayze also did the made for TV mini-series "North-South". That, and the movie "The Outsiders" were my favorites. That SNL thing with Chris Farley was very funny too.

He was one of the very few "pretty boys" that still commanded a fair amount of respect for his acting abilities.

Godspeed Patrick.

My wife finally got a DVD of Roadhouse for me so I could watch it whenever I wanted, and didn't hog the tv when it came on

Red Dawn was filmed in and around Las Vegas NEW MEXICO. He later bought a ranch near there. We used to drive by there but never saw him.Did see Mat Dammion(sp) when he was filming there.

Im with mfpoor. I really liked him in the north and south series. That was the first I really noticed him. Told many around me that he would someday be one of the big boys of the screen. Sorry to see him pass but cant imagine the agony of being trapped in that kind of illness.God bless him.

I think his best movies were Red Dawn and Roadhouse, of course Dirty dancing and Ghost were both pretty good too even though they were a little "chick flicky". I hate to see such a good actor die like that but even in the end he did something good....he knocked most of the Michael Jackson hoopla off the TV.
