I thought the previous post answered your question. It's a truck for a horse drawn piece of equipment.

Do you have a better picture? Maybe one with it sitting upright so that we can see more of the casting and less of the wheels?

Just my $.02...

Hi Walter,

It appears too be a log/pipe mule.

The alligator looking gusset is for chains.

I think Mathias NY is correct that it is part of a horse or steam tractor implement. It should be standing up with the grease cups on top of the axle. The clevis is mounted in the wrong place. Should be in one of the three holes, but they look as if they are about pulled out. DH

A packer wheel for some planter. I point to the cross-wise hole with the set screw on the front end.

My son wanted me to tell you that it is a front wheel assembly for a horse drawn piece of equipment like a ride on disk.

I'm going to guess with Coloken on this one. I got rid of a two row John Deere planter over the weekend and the press wheels on it looked very similar.

the others are correct... it is a tongue truck (front wheel assembly) for a horse drawn implement... most likely a disk. these trucks were used to prevent excessive tongue weight being carried on the horses necks, which tends to "sore them up". they're intended to pull implements, not carry them. I've got a disk that is missing the truck... wanna sell that one??? ...D

Those screw down old grease cups generally stood up. Stand it up and post a picture of it that way. Also notice how the holes are worn. Whatever it pulled, pulled down on it. I think the guys identified it correctly the first go round.
