Seems kind of odd for me to be just starting to chop this late in the seasonbut , with all the rain we had and the sun we didn"t get ,it just won"t dry down. Very littel has been chopped in my area unless the farmer was out of feed. Most years we chop around Sept. tenth to fifteenth. We have been bless with another week of off and on showers, so it might be kind of touch and go , but the forcast is for sunny today and showers agin tomorrow. Got to start somtime, you can get a lot done waiting for a good forcast to come

I live in New York near the pa border and most farms in the hills havent started and only those in the valleys have some done. I was done last year by the 10th of september but this year I wont be done untill a least the 24th of october. We cant even get a frost to help it.

I finished a week ago last Saturday. Thought I was gonna be way late too,but had some that dried down sooner than I expected. Last 12 acres was pretty green, but I pushed it up over the drier stuff in the bunker. Should average out.

We got a start on Saturday ourselves. We got a good 1 1/2 inches of rain today. Might need to use the hitch on our chopper made for mud pulling for that purpose, not bcause the other hitch broke off.

believe it or not we started at work a week and a hlf ago but due to break downs and rain we are only about half done. got a 16"X60" silo to fill and a 20"X60" to top off the top 8 or so doors. will be a while though with all the rain. almost got suck a few times saturday when i was chopping and that was after3-4 days of no rain!
