Finished cutting beans

After putting the J vents on yesterday, the sun was out and a nice breeze, and the forecast rain nowhere in sight, I started cutting beans again. Had a good afternoon, no serious breakdowns. Finished right at dark, got the last of the beans in the bin at dark:30. Glad that's done! Wore out Mf 750 with a junk 15' platform. When I finished last year, I said I would never use that head again. BUT, as late as everything is this year, I figured if I waited for the neighbors to get done and have them cut them, in might be Thanksgiving before they got here so I pulled it out of the weeds and limped thru 1 more year. Hopefully by next year I can find a different combine and heads. Chris

I haven't seen a sky like that in 3 weeks. Wow. Forgot what it looks like.

No beans started yet. Only took the end rows out of the corn - 31% moisture. Rained all day yesterday, more to come this evening, and Friday, and Monday.......

Good feeling knowing you got the crop in and put away.

I got my beans done on Tuesday. Did a little work on the combine and switched back to corn yesterday PM.

I'm like you, I did not think we would run yesterday but the sun did come out.

A guy I helped farm had a 760 massey. It cut wheat like there was no tomorrow when it wasn't broke down. It seemed like something broke on it almost every day. I really liked the perkins engine in it. I spent most of my time running an old F gleaner. It was slow but steady and it didn't seem as prone to breaking.

That must be a big relief for you. Here in northeast Missouri very little crop has been taken out. Most have not even started harvesting yet. And it is raining cats and dogs as I write this. It is starting to get serious (just like in the spring). Mike

swmn-a few guys tried it this weekend but most beans are in the field, we got over a half inch yesterday, new poly for the bh should be here today and I will have plenty of time to put it on as I will need it, old stuff was worn and wanted to start pushing, supposed to be rain free for a few days with a chance Sun, Tues & Wed.

What type of beans do you grow, they look small? My dad raised lima beans. Harvest time never looked like that. The beans were all brought to the stationary threshing machine, then everything was moved to another field. Can lima beans be harvested the same way? Stan

Wow, that blue sky is just beautiful. Its been very wet here for the last month. Started raining again yesterday a.m. and finally quit a little while ago. Ground is saturated.

What yr/model JD?

Just ordinary Round-up Ready soybeans.Sorry I don't know anything about Lima Beans. Chris

Gary, aren't you glad you got that bigger combine this year?

Seems to me that you are here in IN somewhere or am I way off my rocker? If so I have a deal for you! Older machine but we completely rebuilt her three years ago and only used it 1 year... New Holland TR95 with rebuilt 20' grain table. The price is right!
