Muffler or Muffler Delete Pipe

Am wondering what affect a muffler delete pipe will have on a non-turbo tractor? I have a John Deere 2840 that needs a new muffler. Price is similar so am wondering if there would be any advantages to the delete pipe. Will it make the tractor louder? Thanks!

It'll bother your eardrums more than the tractor.
For even money I don't think I'd remove a muffler. There's got to be some financial incentive for me. Even on a N/A engine I think I'd still get a muffler. Turbo... they're not so bad as the turbo takes some of the bark out of them and a long pipe will get the racket up over your head.
Think I'd get a muffler in your case tho.

I figured the turbo would take alot of the bark out. Guess Im not sure on the price anymore. I remember a few years ago they were both just over $100. I just checked online and the muffler is over $400!!! Trouble is I cant find the muffler delete pipe...all I can find is a vertical muffler conversion. Tractor has a cab (with new cab kit) and 48" chrome stack (that I would like to keep) so maybe the noise would be high enough to be tolerable?

If it has a closed cab, i wouldnt wory to much about the noise, Contact your dealer and they can find one for ya

We have 4 tractors two with pipes and two with mufflers. One is Turbo its as noisy as the one with the straight pipe both big engines.
the two smaller tractors have the mufflers and are much nicer to run all day. I once ran the Cockshutt without the muffler didn't take long to put it back on.

go to your local muffler shop & buy a piece of exhaust pipe & stick it on with a clamp...4in. is $2 a foot...muffler delete pipe ??..what ? ...take care ...Kent

'Delete' kits are fancy new things for emissioned exhausts. Tractors... use pipes made at muffler shops to your specs.
If you've got a SoundGuard cab I wouldn't worry about the noise. Make a pipe and fit it on.
400 bucks sounds about right for a muffler. Main reason I went with a pipe...
