Import Tractor Research

Does anyone have any information about a company in NE Ohio (Youngstown?) called the Canada-Burton Supply Co. (circa 1950's?). It's possible that they mave have been exclusive importers of small Italian crawler line, one of which I have. Historical/tax/business records have not turned up anything about them. Would appreciate any help.

Humor us- what kind of small Italian crawler do you have? Think of us as kind of a "tractor Google"- you can't be coy with the information, if you want help. . .

I've seen the old Fiat, Lamborghini and Landini crawlers in the US. What else is there here, from Italy?

You're probably looking for Burton Supply Co. Inc, of Youngstown...they show as exclusive agent for Canada and US for Bungartz (German) about those years, so they were importers of that kind of equipment...they may well've incptd separate cptns for each imported line
Did NOT look up Burton to see if they're still in business...Good luck

The crawler is a Lombardini Castoro C24. It is a 2 cylinder air cooled direct injected diesel of 1144cc, producing 24Hp.at 3000RPM. It has a hi/lo range hydraulic clutch into a 3 fwd./1 rev.(6/2) manual transmission. It has a live 540/910? rpm 1-3/8x 6 spline pto, an American Cat1 3 pt, and a manual angle bulldozer that was added in the U.S. by Buchli who made JD M & MC after market dozers. Approx. 30"W x 76"L x 40" H, 2800# w/o dozer; 3500# w/dozer.
I was told by a (now deceased) equipment dealer that in 1957 Lombardini sent 4 to U.S. to develop dealer network , no takers. The machines were designed for vineyard use with a supplied rototiller. I have recently acquired a sales brochure from the Canada-Burton Co. on which they state that are exclusive importers, it is dated 1963. My dozer has X suffix tractor and engine numbers that apparently show it to be a 1957. As I know of only 4 of these machines in the U.S. (and only another 8-10 worldwide per internet) I am interested in trying to nail down it's history.
In my contact with Lombardini (Italy) several years ago, a service rep. stated that he did not know of them ever having made a crawler. Their anniversary photo album just prior to their sale to Kohler shows several crawler prototypes in the 1950's.
My machine still runs and steers and is a pushin' fool for it's size.
Thanks for your interest.

Seem to be (have been) popular in france. must have one helluva a reverse gear............

The C24 Lombardini I have has been used very little, has the original rubber tracks and is one of the five delivered to Burton Supply. It is for sale now as I have too many other interests. Includes the original Italian one bottom plow. 419-281-103
