I am looking at an OC crawler loader with a high lift bucket. Unit will need pins, rollers, radiator and what ever we find wrong with it. It will be our winter project. We are going to use it to clear some ground off ( all sugar sand, no clay) of small poplar trees and basswood. We done it years ago with a JD 420 crawler with a bucket, and I know it will be slow process, but have more time than money. What are some of your opinions on this crawler,we've already posted on the crawler forum, but maybe someone here has or had one and knows something about them.Any relevant info will be greatly appreciated.Don't want to make a dozer out of our tractor or bobcat, their not meant for that type of use in my opinion. Thanks in advance for your replies,

OC-what? OC3? OC4? With aux trans, with hi-low or reverser, gas or diesel, etc?

I've got HG, OC3, and OC4 crawlers but they are all different.

I'm waiting here which crawler specifically. But, the HG or OC3 was geared lower then the Deere 420 if it has the factory-option aux. trans.

OC4 was available with the hi-low or travel reverser. If it has the hi-low, it's geared similar to Deere.

HG or OC3 with factory-optional aux has a 1st gear of .6 MPH at full throttle.

OC4 with low range in 1st is .8 MPH.

Deere 420 in 1st is .87 MPH.

Also note that the HG, OC3 and OC4 travel at 2 MPH in 1st if they don't have the aux or low range option.

Workable little units. The OC3 has one flaw that I experienced: the turning is brakes only, no clutches. This results in some power issues turning while pushing. JimN

An OC46 is just an OC4 with a factory attachment. Early OC4s with dozers or loaders were labeled as OC46s. If sold as bare crawler only they were called OC4s. Later versions (B series as I recall) only put OC46 on the loaders.

True. He didn't say if the loader was an integral part of the crawler or if it's an add on. If it's factory, could be the 46.

Thanks for the input. Havn't gotten the model yet not the serial number. The deal is still in the works. Hope it works out for us. Will have further information later on. Reguards. LOU

Thanks again. Deal is still in the works. Will have more information if and when we get the unit. Will Have more reasonable questions later. Thanks.
