Hello Guys.
I have a FARMALL H that had sat for several years, I have got the tractor running with help from this site, but I am having trouble with the gas tank, how do you guys clean the tanks, and what do I need to use to coat it after I have cleaned it. I have had a lot of help on this site over the last few years, Thanks for the help.
Ken.

I take mine to the local radiator shop. Cleaning and plastic lining is around $100, never have the problem again.

i been working on stuff professionally all my life...the chances of somebody cleaning and sealing a tank correctly the first time are very slim...a bad seal job will haunt you forever...take it to a reputable radiator shop and let them do it...they have the chemicals and equiptment to do it rite the first time...the time and money you spend doing it yourself just aint worth the hassle.

I did mine the hard way. Tumbled with gravel tied to rear tractor tire. It worked but never again. Use a radiator shop.

All I do is thump on them with a rubber mallet. Rinse them out with some gas. Follow the instructions on a can of Red Kote.

If you are going to tumble it use something that will come out with a magnet! The last one I did I strapped it to my cement mixer with a handful of 1/2 inch nuts in it, washed it with the water hose, put the shop vac on blower (NOT SUCTION, Gas fumes and electric motors do not play well together) then followed the directions on the can of Redcoat.

filll it full of oven cleaner and 1inch rocks shske rattle and roll till all crud is loose inside then wash out with hottttt water steam clean is best ,let dry out,put to use

Use 2-4 bottles of works bathroom cleaner.
Dump in the take ad a little water to activate and shake it around good let set for a couple houls shake again rince out with the garden hose and watch the junk come out. Take leaf blower and dry your tank out looks like a new dime inside after done. Dollar store works great
