O/T Chev pick up hood

Ok so I'm almost done putting that rear end in, has taken 4 days so far and will get done tomorrow. But any how will a hood from a 1984 Suburban fit on a 1980 Chev pick up. The hood on my truck has the normal high center because of sticking hood hinges so since I have the other hood if it will work I figured I would switch it out.
Thanks

The Chevy pickup styling changed with the 81 model, from the 80's square front to the 81's slope nose style.

SHOULD work if you switch the whole "front clip" along with the hood, as (as Jon posted) the hood, fenders, radiator support, headlights and grille are different.

Besides all else the newer hood is shorter. 82 and up have an extra piece of sheet metal between the hood and windshield. Pre 1981, it's not there and the hood goes all the way to the windshield. I've got an 83 Chevy plow truck parked alongside a 79 Chevy plow truck. Just went out to look and double-check.

Seems Chevy got in a little trouble with the old one-piece hoods. Rumour was that it could go straight through the windshield in a collision.

Even changing the front clip won't let it fit. The 81- up hinges are different... mount in a pocket in the cowl. Now if you're good with a torch and welder... you might just get it to fit.

Blazer, pickup and Suburban are the same. Pre model year 82s have the full hood right to the windshield. 82 and up stop short with an extra cowl piece.

old i have changed a newer 81up front over to a 78 pickup, but to do it you must change everything foward of the firewall, all of it fenders, cowel piece, core support, brackets, bumper brackets, bumper, grill, ect all of it
