It's been 20 years

since we had a White Christmas, and nobody alive had seen one here prior to that. Some folks said there was one about 120 years earlier, but couldn't confirm it. It got down to zero that night which is unheard of here. We may see a couple of nights below 20 degrees in the dead of winter, but that's about it.

A white Christmas is grossly overrated. Trust me I've seen lots of them. I hate snow, ice and cold. It's warmed up here in northern Pa tonight to 36 degrees, I'm thinking it has about 30 more to go.

YEAH! It is that Al Gore global warming thing.
Stop driving that tractor so much.

Because of my chosen profession, I lived and worked in a number of really cold, snowy states including Alaska in the dead of winter. Snow!! I hate it. Today here it was overcast, the clouds went away and then "T" shirt weather. Since I am now retired, I will never spend another minute in that kind of weather.

I lived on Topsail Island for about eight years. I only recall having any snow to speak of maybe half a dozen times. Of course, two inches of snow will shut down eastern NC just as effectively as two feet of snow here in SE MI. And if the temperature dropped below twenty, everybody's pipes froze.

Here near Wickenburg Az. it was 38' one morning last week, so not comfortable and it was very wet. Washes were running and most roads had concerns, people got out what winter wear they have and generally got on with their lives. I had occasion to go to Yarnell Az. About 25 miles away and 4000 feet higher elevation, and they had 1" of snow and below freezing weather. I enjoyed the snow and made a snowball, something I have not had the oppurtunitie to do in many years.Well we have had Winter for 2 weeks now, time to get into spring and then ::: summer again. Seasons here are not regulated by a time schedule I can assure you.

Where are you located, Wesley?

Here in southern Minnesota, I remember 2 Christmases that weren't white. It's pretty rare.

Thanksgiving is the benchmark holiday for us. That is often the week of the first snow that sticks around until April.

We are about 35 miles north of Wilmington, NC. Our county's weather statistics say we average 3 inches of snow, but that is skewed by the fact that every few years we get several inches that stick. In 1989, we had 15" at Christmas. It was already snowing that Christmas Eve about dark and my parents came across a young man walking down the road 40 miles from where he lived. He had gotten in an argument and told whoever he was riding with to put him out, and they did. I don't know what made him think that was smart, but he would have probably frozen to death. They took him part of the way and a friend took him the rest of the way home. Certainly not a MENSA member.

I think the temp here in the northwest metro (About 30 miles northwest of Minneapolis, MN) right now is 2 degrees Fahrenheit. (It's about 2:30 PM-sun will be down in about 2 hours or less.) Wind Chill is -15. Supposed to get down to -5 tonight, and we have a heat wave coming through the latter part of this week. Low 20's! "It's no so much the heat, but the humidity that will kill ya". I wouldn't trade this state for any other. We have some of the most diverse landscapes and seasons you will find. Have been getting snow on average 2 times a week or so for the last 3 weeks. First snowfall this year was on October 10th. That is the earliest I have seen it snow in my 23 years. Last night the diesel gelled up in the old pickup so had to run to Carquest this morning. Wouldn't you know I got back and it fired right up.

I remember that, the same year as Hugo.It is the only white Christmas I have ever seen. Charleston SC.

If it snows on Christmas I have to go to work . I like overtime as much as the next guy, but I like a day off with my family all gathered together more.

scroll, scroll, ah there it is.
if it keeps up some smart salesman/woman will be able to say "I sold a refrigerator to the Eskimos". look good on the cv.

Just a skiff here in Southcentral Michigan, and temp at 19F. Tomorrows high at 22F, guess I'll go cut another load of firewood. I think I'll need it.
