G"Day All,
Well, I hope the weather turns around I"m heading to Orlando for a week. I"ll probably be looking for some things to do to fill in some time. Any suggestions? Perhaps some flea markets or I"d like to get out into the "country" if possible. I"ve never been to Florida before.
Thanks

Church street is always fun . Capt Nemo's is some serious eating , all you can eat seafood buffet . The Doll House is always on my list too ! lol

As a native Floridian, hit one of the airboat tours in the area. It will be "touristy" but neat. Florida has a great park system, I"m sure you can google something. Be sure to eat at Hooters near Disney, good wings and "talent"

Google any state for their Tourism Bureau, but allow some time for their mags to arrive. We just sent for some from SW states for a Spring trip. They"re all more than happy to send info, looking for your $$$.

There's a huge flea market down in Auburndale which is about an hour south and west from orlando. Set up in a fair grounds and fills every building there. Largest I have ever seen.

Mecum muscle cars and more auction in Kissimmee
Sat and Sunday. Go up to Daytona and drive on the beach.

There is a nudist colony over near Kisissimee. An aircraft museum in that area, too. If you get over to the west coast of Florida, go to Tarpon Springs, near Tampa. You can dive for real sponges, buy them, or go thru a sponge museum. North of Tampa is a really neat little man-made island, where you can swim, lay in the sun, watch the gurls, or fly a kite! I didn't say "gulls"!
On the east side, there is lots to see and do at the space place, and see the old rockets and tour the museum. Been there-done that.

The whole state is crawling with snowbirds this time of year. Way too crowded for me. Expect lots of touristy things. Expect trailer parks as far as the eye can see.

Ocala nat Forrest is nice. The green houses south of Lake Placid will blow your mind. Miles of them. They supply the big chains (lowes, home depot, etc).

I hope it has warmed up some by now. Last week I was in Jacksonville and Tallahassee and the weather was colder than it was in Seattle. I NEEDED a winter coat anytime I was outside during my week in Florida. When I left a cup of tea in the rental car overnight, it had over 1/4" of ice on the top the next morning...not quite what I expected on a trip that far South this time of year.

Hopefully the weather will be warmer for you, but I would sure suggest bringing heavier clothes with you, since you might very well need them.

We are having a goofy Winter in Eastern Washington. We have had almost no snow so far and only about a week of really cold weather. I have not had to plow snow even once, while last year, I had to plow about every other day. Many nights the temperature has not even gone down to freezing near Spokane. Although I am a little worried that the precipitation will be way low for this season, I really appreciate not having to deal with so much snow. We set an all-time record snowfall in 2008-2009.

What a difference a year makes!
