Grinding feed update

Just wanted to thank you guys who offered advice for grinding feed with the old John Deere 400 mixer. I ground 4 tons of a corn and oats mixture, with vitamins and distillers added. It did a very nice job mixing it, and the smaller of the two screens I had ground the shell corn to a very nice consistency.
I thinks this will be a real money saver on my feed costs.

Good to hear evertyhing worked out for you. I have my corn rolled(course) and mixed with the pellets at the co-op that I have some corn banked, they just unload it into one of my gravity wagons and I pull it home, sure like it better than dealing with it in 100 pound sacks. When I get the grain bins erected I bought I will probably also start grinding my own feed. If you dont mind me asking what ended up being your formula for your finished product and what kinda prtien are you getting? Been thinking about adding some distillers to mine, and maybe get by with less pellets and corn. I dont use any oats currently, but I hear distillers is pretty potent.

I'm not sure the exact capacity of my John Deere 400 mixer, but the book indicates it's a 2 ton capacity.
What I do is run 1000lbs of shell corn in, then add 150lbs of the distillers, then add 7lbs vitamins, and top off the grinder with oats.
Feed mill I buy my distillers and vitamins figured this mix would get me about 12% protein.
