OT: Shipping Containers

Anybody know where I can buy used 20' and 40' shipping containers cheap in central Missouri. I have seen them from $1400 and up but I'm sure there's got to be a hidden gem somewhere?

Any thought mid-Missourians?

If there is an Old Domminon [spelling] termnial near you, they usually have the 28ft.pup trailers for $600 to $800 depending how many they have on hand.

St Louis or Memphis.. I deal in a lot of them and you are going to have to work hard. to beat that price. That is about the going fair for anything that is usable. You might find some individual but i can,t think of any inyour parts
that I have sold that would be cheaper.

i paid more than that 3 years ago for a 40' and it was best price to be found...i bet shipping will whup up on price.

I have two 40' containers in my yard that I use for storage. Both of them are in very nice shape and seem to be mouse proof. I paid $2700 delivered for the newer one and almost that much for the older one.

My opinion is that it would be pretty hard to come anywhere close to building a regular building that large for that little money. I haven't seen any available for $1400 and would wonder what was wrong with a container that inexpensive.

I did miss on a container a neighbor had that he sold for about $1500. I hadn't known he was going to get rid of it until I saw it was gone from his yard.

Since the containers I have are considered "temporary" structures, I am getting away with using railroad ties for foundations. Cheap and easy, and if I decide I either don't need the containers anymore or if I want to move them, I don't have any investment in a permanent foundation. I also am not being taxed as much as I would be with a permanent building. I like that!
