Thanks (both of you).
I was just time travelling and thought of a guy I worked with once at Ft Leonard Wood. Looked the name up and the same name popped up in the 2 towns. Figured it was close because he lost his little boy to cancer just over 20 years ago and several of us went to the funeral. Forget where it was, but it was in the boonies about 2 hours south of the Ft. Just wondering if it was the same one. Worked with several civilians there from the area, but not real comfortable with posting names to ask about them.

Not to change the subject but aren't you from OH . I
live in Huntington WV . or just south of. you would
love weather here is raining now will turn to snow
later.

I would be if I could find the right place for the right price. We've been there several times looking. Beautiful country around there.

Always land in my area up for sale but yep some is way to high at $1000 per foot, lake front. But out in the middle of no place you can find it for around $800 or so an acre at times. I know of 30 acres for $25,00 but it is next to impossible to get to

My wife grew up in West Plains and has lots of family still
there. Her cousins husband has a trucking company based in
Willow Springs. Its a real nice area and has really been growing.

Heres a picture I took in June 2009 at the car show on the square
in West Plains. Also here is a picture of the Old Opera House on
the west side of the square.

We were looking at ranches back when we were looking. At that time,we could have bought nice places, mostly open with water and good newer ranch style homes, good out buildings,300-450 acres for $1000 an acre. Bigger places, less per acre because once you got past the value of the buildings, the land prices came down. Fenced vacant land with water at that time was 4-600. We should have sold out here and bought then, but hindsight is 20/20.

Paul, wet and muddy where there is no snow. Yes, spring can come anytime. I spend all my time hauling wood and putting it in the furnace. Good to hear from you.

Yep, I have a few kinfolk there in "Willer Sprangs", as some of the natives call it. Some old timers would just call it "Willer". :D

It's pretty country around there all right, but the thing I disliked was the chiggers & ticks in the summertime.
We used to have them here in Texas too, until the fire ants eliminated them. That's the only thing I like about those hateful little critters.
They are gradually spreading your way, but it will probably take a few years. We've already sent you our excess of Armadillo's.

If I'm not mistaken, the car in that top picture is a Metropolitan. I used to see them once in a while during the 50's & 60's. They always reminded me of a miniature early 50's Nash Rambler. Thanks for the pic's.
