Mount grader blade in front?

Has anyone ever mounted a 3 pt grader blade in front of a Jubilee? I want to push snow not pull it. Neighbor has an atv with a blade in front. Uses an electric wench to lift the blade. If you made such a device please post pic. If there is a place where I can buy a kit, that would be even better. Thanks in advance. George

Dad had a Satoh about that size when I was a kid with a blade on the frt. Don't remember the setup, but shouldn't be that big of a deal. Maybe look at an Iseki or Kubota w/ blade and copy it? Dad also had a 3pt blade on back turned backwards and would work in fwd and reverse on parking lots and wide places.

I've seen several front blades on older tractor's like 8N's that had arms attached to the 3 pt. for lifting them. Maybe they were factory blades? With a front blade for snow, you need to have skid shoes so the blade doesn't dig into the ground or take all the gravel off a driveway. A rear blade won't dig in as much after a layer of snow/ice is packed down. With a sharp edge, a rear blade could also use skid shoes or be lifted just slightly. Harder to lift slighly and follow the ground contour with a front blade. Dave

Already have shoes on blade. Holds blade 1 1/2 inches off the ground. Want to make front blade floating and lift it with the wench. Like Daves idea of putting a blade on the back to remove snow while going backward.

I think almost all rear blades can be reversed but then you're looking over your shoulder all the time and don't have as much control or choice of speeds. Dave

See if this opens for you. Not sure why it's in German, but the picks may give you an idea and the thing may not be far from you if it's still available.

i built a front blade for my Ford 2000 that used the 3 point rear hitch and a cable routed underneath to a series of pulleys on the front to lift blade...i used it to level dirt...not much snow in these parts.

(quoted from post at 20:34:41 02/06/10) Uses an electric wench to lift the blade.

Electric wench - that's a female robot? I could see it - like the ones on the front of an old ship, only on the front of the tractor, and she's a strong girl, so she picks up the blade for you. Post pictures when you're done, so long as it stays PG rated. ;-)

(quoted from post at 19:05:40 02/06/10) Dave, Looks like I want...now where can I buy one in the states? George

couldn't tell you. Canada may be a nice road trip when the snow is gone. Call the number, if it's still there, maybe the guy will take some more pics and send you measurements.

There was a Ford snowplow blade made for N's,and it would prolly fit a Jub(600series).However as mentioned below,it was cable/pulley lifted by 3pt arms, thus negating 3pt blade use while installed...however in my opinion...it would be relativly simple to build a snow(NOT dozer)blade for a Ford.
-Heavy Plate-angle iron type brackets under rear axle on fender bolts.(single pivot front axle not designed for pushing)
-Two 1/4x2x3 sq tube arms from brackets to ahead of tractor, cross braced near frt, rear& cntr to clear clutch/pan when raised.
-Pickup truck blade(w/o lift mech)adapted
-Front Ford type bumper
-lift could be hydraulic or winch mounted to bumper.
-crossed chains from push frame to frt axle to limit wandering
Just my musings..I'll have a Ford again someday.

I have a dozer blade that operates with 2 hydraulic cylinders that came off a John Deere utility tractor. The blade tilts but does not angle. I can send you picture if you email me.

If this taurus can handle it your little tractor should do just fine. :)

thats what i modeled mine after...mounted off rear axle...i used 2&3/8" inside 2&7/8" for push beams...i used it about 6 years before i broke down and bought a dozer.

Yrs back on the farm we had one on a 9N,went with the tractor when traded off..musta been 40+yrs back :(
Later we had a roadgrader blade adapted to fit on Thorson loader on Jube, and later on 860.
