Garden tractor belt pulley

I want to mount a PTO mount belt pulley from an 8N ford onto the front of a garden tractor. Has anyone done this?
The garden tractor ( Ford LGT14D) has a 1 inch pto front shaft with 10 or 12 splines and the 8N 90 degree belt pulley has only 6 splines. Any idea where I could find conversion shafts? or must this be fabricated?

You may want to think about the RPM that those shafts turn. The 8N shaft would turn at 540, more or less, and the LGT would probably turn about 3600.
 
As Steve says RPM be sure what you have or you could be building a death machine. Use if one time and they pick up the body parts and put them in the ground. 540RPM on an 8N is very slow and depending on the RPM of that lawn tractor you could well be looking for big trouble
 
Doug, I'm not sure EXACTLY what you are trying to accomplish, but here's a couple of photos showing how DEERE put front-mount 540 RPM PTO's on some of their garden tractors, from weekendfreedommachines.org. In the first example, a LARGE driven pulley was used to cut the speed to 540, in the other version, they used a little gearbox.

Bob,
I like the way you capped LARGE pulley. That is one LARGE pulley. Never saw a setup like that before. But I am sure it works. Just wonder what type of 540 equipment you could run off that?
