[b:e7a20fe223]Post 1:[/b:e7a20fe223] I've got a 1955 Super 55 that i can't get into the bottom set of gears (as per the gears label). So far I have removed the transmission cover. Both left and right shifter rods move freely. I cannot get the center shifter rod to move with moderate pressure applied. The resistance seems to be coming from the center shifter fork. I have not drained the fluid yet but will today to get a somewhat closer look.

Any ideas? Anyone run into this before?

The manual states that early models did not have the modified fork so that means that it will be necessary to remove the transmission input double gear. - Sounds like surgery to me, more than I was hoping for.

[b:e7a20fe223]Post 3:[/b:e7a20fe223] The other two sliding couplings don't seems very wide, and appear that they would engage the gear it's on (in neutral) and another at the same time when shifting.

The center rod coupling is right tight against the low range gear and could be completely off of the coupling gear. How could this happen and how to get it back on? I'm hoping to not tear down the transmission but not holding my breath.

Picture: Any Ideas??
