Winter Storm Warning

for Houston. This is crazy. Snow on December 4; snow predicted for the last week in February. More Texans on ice again. I wish I could store some of this for summer...lol.

This area in Germany has had the worst winter in 30 years (embarrassing compared to what some of you folks get). Worse temp has been 10 degrees. Snow banks make nice beer coolers though......

The last 15 years or so, we have had very mild winters, so this one, while not a record setter, seems very long. Things are starting to green up, but mother nature's not going to cooperate. I'm just glad I don't have to go through what most in this forum go through. I'm just a wimp, I guess....lol

We too have a winter storm warning or a lake effect snow warning I forgot. Calling for 12"+ over the next day or so. So that will put us up over 240 inches I think.

Gotta keep your priorities in order, eh? By the way, do they drink it cold in Germany or warm like in England?

my plum trees are already blooming...sposed to get 1" on the ground tonite...dont sound like a lot to you yankee's,but itza blizzard this far south.

They are predicting 1-3 inches of snow north of Houston, but the precipitation is supposed to clear out before the temp drops below freezing, so maybe we will dodge the bullet, as far as the ice is concerned. It's supposed to warm up tomorrow into the 50s so any ice will be brief. Rain and near freezing predicted for the weekend. A lot of the country thinks our weather would be spring where they are at.

I remember the old saying about spring definitely arriving when the pecan trees start budding out. I remember a freeze over 25 years ago on Galveston Bay on April 30th. The pecan trees got fooled that year.

Right now we are getting a light "dusting" of snow here in Dallas.

No accumulation and should be gone by noon so the weatherman says.

Rumor has it that snow is coming back on Sunday.

CLTX you know where I am at and right now at 10:41 it is snowing like crazy. Just got a call from the diesel shop. My injector pump is ready naturally it could not be ready when it was warm. So I guess I will be playing in the snow again.

CLTX, Rain just started in Bryan, they have revised down to 1-2" of snow. Ahh spring time in Texas. The old farmers said to wait until the scissor tails were back and the mesquites put out then you would know winter was over. Havent seen too many scissor tails since I left Abilene several years back and the mesquite in my back yard has drowned. :)

Apparently, the snow is supposed to get heavier the further south you go. This morning's report said snow to the coast, but no accumulation. I just hope that the roads dry before the temp drops below freezing, which is what they are predicting for Houston. Montgomery Co. is included in the warning, but Harris Co. is not and I'm one mile north of the Harris, Montgomery line. But I have to drive 18 miles north on 45 to school. They will cancel school if they find any ice on the bridges in the morning, probably just after I leave home.

Of course, that's the way it works, isn't it? If it was sunny and warm out, you'd be stuck in the shop with no chance to escape. Never fails.

It just started raining here about 2:10, no sleet or snow yet. B. Shafer's less than an hour north of me, and it's been snowing there for better than three hours.

All, Here in Central Texas, It is a interesting today! I have been from North Austin (Cedar Park/Leander) to Temple. Temple by far has more snow than anywhere I have seen today. 5 to 6in some places while here at the house maybe 4in.It is one wet snow, flakes are quarter sizes or bigger at times. Overpasses in Temple are slushy while the roadway are mostly clean and wet.I am home and leaving it to the Nimrods who just got a 4x4 for the first time in their life. Have fun Ya'll!
Later,
John A.

Depends.......Germans drink it room temp, but I haven't forgot my heritage and have to have it cold. Go to a bar and it's served cold.

DC area is to get another dump of snow that is later in week, and then move back west go figure.

I'm just North of EBolch, and we've had about 5" today (Tuesday). it's 6:37 PM, and RADAR shows more coming this way, and then the snow/moisture clearing out. Supposed to freeze later (right at 32 now), and the water and slush on roads will be slick. Schools, and businesses are holding off until 10 AM tomorrow to open. Anyone who HAS to get out, dress for it, and Be Careful!!
