Speaking of Ford dealerships ????

Have noted a couple-three dealerships looking awfully closed here in the last couple weeks. Is Ford shutting them down like Chrysler & GM did?
(Mostly smaller town dealers. - Gotta go to the big city and get jerked around by the city-slicker dealers now.)

If Ford does not start doing a better job at warranting their products and blaming it on the dealer and the dealer blaming it on Ford they will go down quickly.

They can all shut down as far as I am concerned. Been looking around at new trucks, I didn"t pay that much for my house! Told the wife if I had the cash to waste, I still wouldn"t pay those prices. The old one will get a new door hinge, tires and keep on going.

I have a good ford dealer and he has always done well by me but the cost of a new one is out of sight. I just want a 4 door F250 4x4 with an 8 foot bed. 37K is just not an option.

Ford has been closing dealers for about the last 20 years. B.I.L owned the one in Whitehall and was told by Ford to either sell it to a dealer from Grand Rapids or lose the franchise. Ford demanded that he buy a certain mix of vehicles in order to get the best unit pricing. Kinda hard to sell Birds and Cougars to farmers so he would buy the mix and then try to do dealer trades where he could sell the products to the right market. Dealers have to play the Ford game or they get all sorts of grief when ordering parts and getting corporate support for pricing. Last Summer when I was in Whitehall I noticed that the dealership is closed so buyers have to go to Muskegon at Great Lakes Ford. I suppose it is moving the business in the direction where they can remain profitable.

Priced an F250 4x4 diesel last week @ local Ford dealer $48,xxx. Too rich for my blood, I'll drive the 2000 till the wheels fall off. LOL

I agree. My 2002 Silverado 1500 4x4 looks pretty good, paid for in the driveway. I'd like to upgrade to a 2500 or F250, but it sure won't be new. You could buy a used one with a blown engine, replace it and still be ahead of the game. .

I think the whole Stanton Ford thing was just a depressed Montcalm County thing. They've changed hands so darned many times anyway since Buzz retired and sold it the first time.

I have a 1990 F150 with the 300 six in it. It will probably be the last truck or car I buy. Being on disability I can't afford the price of the new ones. Plus I can't see paying the price of the new ones. With the payments and insurance payments. I would be living in the woods.
