OT: Ice Maker

I have a Frigidaire side by side refrigerator that dispenses water from the front and works fine, but the icemaker isn't making cubes and these are dispense from the front too, either in cubes or crushed. There's no water going to the icemaker. I disconnected that tubing and know its not iced up. Anyone have any suggestions. Hal

Could this be the problem? Hal

I have had that problem before also. I believe there is a small heater that goes around the fill tube and plugs into the electrical circuit . When it burns out there is no heat left to keep the very end of the tube from freezing, hence no ice. If I remember its not very expensive but I've had 2 of them burn out in the last 12 years or so. Ask the Samuri Repair Man at Fixitnow.com. He's darn good and darn funny. You'll probably find the answer searching old discussion threads.

There's no water to the icemaker. I had the tubing disconnected and no water from the tubing.
Water being dispensed from door works fine. Hal
PS: The fill tubing runs up the back side of the refrigerator out in the open air.

s the water valve receiving power? Is the water valve being opened for flow if it is receiving power?

I'm going to check that in the morning. You don't hear the water flowing to the icemaker. I use to hear it run for 10 or 15 seconds then shutoff. The icemaker still goes through it cycle like its dispensing ice cubes. Hal

If the maker is cycling, take the fill valve apart and clean the lime out. The plunger is probably limed up and stuck shut. Different valve than for door water.

I checked this morning to see if voltage was reaching the valve and it took awhile, but it had voltage for about 10 seconds. How hard is to take that valve apart? Hal

There should be a valve on the outside, back of the reefer very low, close to the floor. It controls
flow to the icemaker.
