Ospho in a gas tank

I have a old gas tank off of a baler and I cleaned it good with bolts and nuts, will it hurt to put some ospho in it to protect the metal and when it dries put gasoline in it and run in the engine? Thanks

I've done it many times with engines from lawn mowers to Harley's to my 8N, and all are doing fine. It's better than the cream type coating, as it doesn't start to peel, and stop up a filter (or worse if no filter, the carb). Just did a diesel tank for wife's Great Uncle on his British Leyland. It's working fine. We are in a hot and humid area in Central Texas.

Go for it. That is just phosphoric acid which is used to get rid of rust in tanks. It coats the metal and causes a reaction so it doesn't rust as quick.
