Achtung!!!!!!
If you have a shell in the chamber and drop/bounce them on the end of the barrel (point down) they could go off and hurt someone.......

Gotta love it. People making big bucks to spread the wealth of common sense.......

Just a little sarcasm..... I work for the Military and get safety bulletins and alerts. Just struck me as a little funny. Not a lot of folks go around bouncing a loaded shotgun on its barrel tip.

Kinda like the Bugs Bunny cartoon where he was on the assembly line testing mortars with a hammer.........

I like how the military is soooo concerned about safety, yet we're suckin' in smoke from the burn pits every night. Guess they only care if you die on their watch. Sorry for the rant.

One of my mother's brothers was missing the big toe on his right foot. Was hunting with an old single barrel shotgun in the mid-'30s (he was a teenager); got tired and rested the barrel of the gun on his shoe.............BOOM!

Old known problem for many firearms- drop it and it goes boom. Solution, don"t drop it with round in chamber or under firing pin. Can be a legal problem -Ruger lost suit on safety of original Blackhawk when hammer hit- resulted in design change for many-the transfer bar operated by triger between hammer and firing pin is one. 1911 grip safety is a drop/fire preventive measure at request of military worried about ADs. MP38 and early Stens had a problem if dropped on butt end with discharges- safety notch in reciever slot for bolt handle was fix. If this is a serious issue?? Maybe design of safety will be changed a bit so inertia of barrel down drop doesn"t release safety and let firing pin trip. Winchester 94 levers have had a safety trigger release button since 1970s? Lever has to be firmly held against stock before trigger can be pulled- drop gun and lever not firmy held means less chance of AD. Grip safeties on some other guns- mostly pistols, maybe the newest shotguns will require them also. Local gun control groups in California had a proposed drop test before sale allowed proposal to stop sale of Glocks- the stronger initial trigger/release spring that police requested passed while earliest models sometimes fired after repeated tests- tests were a little extreme. warning labels now on coffee cups from drivethrus, shouldn"t surprise anyone that guns will need warning labels to keep lawyers happy. Some of the whacky gangbangers need the warning labels perhaps in 2 or 3 languages. RN.

Dang - there goes all my fun in the wintertime!:^( Well, almost time to fish anyway (I don't ice fish, like deer hunting which I also avoid, as explained by Ron White its early in the morning, its cold, and I don't wanna go)

problem comes when the troops jump out of trucks, APCs and drop their guns. Cops have dropped pistols and shotguns more than a few times getting in and out of cars or trying to subdue people. Mossberg 500 is one of the military issues? Rem 870 fairly common for police agencies. Might be a couple of police or MPs dropped one of the warned models and had it go off and scared a officer- or a new officer dropped it and gunny can't kick his hind end for dumb carry so has to blame gun, figures it is good idea to idiot proof gun since he can't stop idiots from getting bars. NEA-federal education agents- just got a bunch of new 870s with 14 inch barrels. Guess the high school students in L A were outgunning them-- or they needed something when going after school supply contractors that skimmed too much and got a warrant against him for federal funds stolen.
