MacFaddens auction tomorrow (Sharon Sp, NY)

Temps rose to 30 F and snow melted, so I took a ride over to MacFaddens. Auction is tomorrow. Not very interesting when compared to some of his other auctions. Maybe too early in the year.

Saw a couple of interesting high-crop IH and Deere tractors. Also an odd-ball 4WD Ford 4000 (I think). I walked through pretty quick, my little kid was freezing. Note the John Deere 300 industrial with the low 16" rear tires.

I thought about going but decided not to after seeing the list in Country Folks. Not much of interest to me.

There are two 730s he brought over from Argentina. A 1959 and a 1966. MacFadden gets a lot of tractors from overseas - but I'm not sure if those hi-crop Deeres are his or not. He's a Landini tractor dealer, so I suppose he sometimes has extra container space on cargo ships coming here from Europe. He's got some pretty neat European Allis Chalmers, Massey Harris, and IH tractors in the yard - all with odd-ball European diesel engines. I've wanted to get a French Massey Harris diesel Pony for years, but never had a chance to buy one cheap yet.

I wonder if those four spoke steering wheels mean no power steeering. The Argie 730's used hydro-static ps like the New Gen tractor as I recall.

JD, I'd be interested in what that little LI JD ends up going for, I found one last summer, could have gotten it for $900, stuck but complete with factory hydraulics, orig tires looked ok too just was not in the budget he later listed it for $1200. Yep, was brisk today, was setting posts outside, glad to be home that is for sure, must be the last call for winter, this artic blast.

The one's without power steering had the 4 spoke steering wheels. Of course they could have switched these out at one time or another. The ones with power steering had a different set up than the one's here in the states.
