Well he earned his sharp shooters metal with pistol.
Now no comments about me and the 44MAG years ago I had that metal also just getting old enough that the hand are not as steady as they once where and the eye site is also going.
Any how next week he will be going for the metal on the M4 rifle and I hope he does well with it

Congrats to him, and again please tell him I said thanks for what he is doing.

Nice to have you back around Old, you were missed for a few days there.

Dave

I'm always around just don't say things all the time. I know thew boy should do well with the M4 since he can shoot pretty good before he went in the navy but I have taught him gun safety for years also

Let's just hope he forgot most of what ya taught him about hitting the target

Sure he'll do fine......

Dave

Well in my day I was a very good shoot just this old age setting in. But hey I most do something right when I can down a deer at 60 yards with my 44mag. Yep 2 like that in 2 years and both hit the ground fast. But I do also hand loads custom rounds for deer hunting with my 44mag

Ya I bet if I target practiced a bit I might get good again but I only shoot now when hunting or have a varmint to shoot so maybe I should set up some cans or something and try some targets

Hey Old. First time I replied to you. I got a 44 mag and we hand load em all Son has a 480,daughter has a 357 .Seems like the 44 mag is getting harder to hold in my old age 75 years young, but still can hit stuff with the 300 winchester mag with out dis locating my shoulder lol. Now dont listen to Dave2.I understand he couldn't hit a cows teat with a tin cup. lol.
Keep on keepin on.Reguards LOU.

Thank your son from all of us for serving us and US. Good to see some in this current generation who realize the value in serving this Country.

Rifle qualification when I did it 40 yrs ago was shooting at man-size "pop-up" targets, at various ranges. You watched for targets to pop up randomly, and then shot 'em. I don't recall we ever shot groups for accuracy.

Our Basic Training company was the last to qualify on M-14 in July 1969, and Infantry training company was the first with M-16 in September 1969.

Old, I shot expert also, fourty years plus ago. It was a big deal then to me, but if ya put logic to it? Do you suppose he will be best suited for a rear job at a desk, or otherwise.

When I went in, it was like sending sheep to the slaughter house, so it probably made no differance. I came back in one piece, but well... you sure know, and worry about that subject.

Drop a bug in his ear, and let him decide. I wish him the best, and a angel to carry him. The military has a way of convincing young folks that all is well if your tough. They were hot on my sons rear two years ago. I threatend to kick every recruters rear..plus more if they ever talked or sent letters to him untill he turned eighteen.

I'm not trying to start something, I also respect our servicemen. I just hate to see more of the same, or history repeating itself.

I feel we should send all the congressmen, and senators kids FIRST, then yours and mine.

Well to me the commander in chief should go first then the ones below then the ones who don't get $hit for what they do. I think is you serve 4 years be it as president or in the military you should get he same when you get out and the military get nothing so the president should get the same nothing

Love yer style Old! I'm not sure this is a compliment, but you an me think alot alike.

Instead of thinking up a new name for our war each month, I wish they would just call it a war on something!

.

How dare them bastages offer him an opportunity for steady (and pretty good) pay, 30 days paid vacation, free health care for him and his family if he has one, learn that there is more to the world than NE IA, just about all the money he would need for college at little out of pocket cost, retire with a pension and health care at 20 years of service. Yadda Yadda.

We aren't back in the horse & buggy days anymore. These kids even get to drive vehicles with rubber tires that have air in them.

(quoted from post at 07:29:54 04/11/10) Of course he is good. He is in the NAVY.USS SARATOGA CVA 60 1968-1972

Is it true that the Navy guys had to double as dance partners for the marines during sea time????

Just kidding..

My tractor is doing real good now, thanks for the tips.
