Thanx for sharing! I realize their are good reasons for a cab, but I still like those without-I suppose it goes back to my not remembering my Granddad with a cab, so open station stirs me abit! Looks like you had some fun! Greg

Great pictures!I too have a 1256--love it when that strait pipe bellows--HUH!--my tractor doesnt look as good,he still wears his old work clothes.some day I will learn to post pictures!

I've always thought the 1256/1456 were about the best looking tractors ever made. Them and the 5020/6030 JD. Oh and the D-21 Allis.

Mark that is a sweet rig. I do have one question though. Will your 1256 pull a bigger plow then the 4 bottom or is that just what you have or is the dirt you farm that demanding. I ask this as we use to plow with an 806 with the TA delete with a set of 720 plow with 5 eighteens on it in the shale, rocks and hills of north east PA at times it was all that tractor wanted as not having the TA did not help but you work with what you have and what you cane pay for.. I always thought the 1256 was so much more tractor.

The 1256 would pull a 5-18 all day long if I had one. I was pulling in High 1 all day and never grabbed the TA so it has plenty of power. We used to plow with the 986 that you see disking (actually dad bought the 986 and the plow together new in 1981) and you pull it in Low 4 with the occasional TA pull. Me and my brother just bought the farm from my parents here a couple weeks ago so we are farming with what he had but we are hoping here to get a chisel plow and a soil finisher soon. It will make things go a little faster.
