George White post hole digger- Seized Shaft

I just got an old george white post hole digger that had a cracked top hitch mount. Took it to get welded and it turned out perfect. One problem though, when I went to mount I found out the drive shaft is seized and will not slide. I've tried penetrating oil and even chained one end to my truck and the other to my tractor to see if I could pull them apart. The truck got dragged about a yard...I was told just to try hooking it up to the pto and using the 3pt to break it free, but I've heard stories about really doing a lot of damage to the pto. Anybody have any ideas? (I don't have access easily to a torch) Thanks

If he grounded the unit via the shaft that is locked up, you might have some problems.

How about rapping the shaft on all sides with a large hammer. If there is some spot welded locations, that might free them up.

Its usually old grease that has heated and cooled numerous times over the years, and finally just sets up like iron. Only easy way is heat.

hit it with the hammer while having presure pulling it apart. If you can't find a torch a good weinee roast fire works if you can lay it in the hot coals.Been there done that
