WHITE 4/175 TRACTOR

LOOKING AT A WHITE 4/175 ,HAVE HEARD THESE TRACTORS HAD SOME PROBLEMS. ANYBODY HAVE ANY EXPERIANCE WITH ONE OF THESE? I WOULD BE USING IT MOSTLY FOR PULLING A DRILL, AND ON A HOMEMADE 10 ROW 3 POINT CORN PLANTER.THANKS FOR ANY IDEAS OR THOUGHTS.

They were/are a SHARP tractor. QUIET cab, as well.

There were 2 in my area, both guys were acquaintances of mine.

The high-speed CAT V-8 isn't necessarily the most durable tractor engine ever made and is $$$ when it DOES need repairs.

The trannies wouldn't win any world-class awards for durability. IIRC, they were prone to some $$$ problems that would cause them to pop out of gear under load.

I'm not sure of the hydraulic flow or any options there.

That being said, if it's in GOOD shape now and you don't pull it's guts out, you'd probably get quite a few hours out of it.

Unless you are really set on this one, I'd look at some Versatiles and Steigers before pulling the trigger. BOTH are easier and less $$$ to repair than the White, the Versatile even more so.

Allan for goodness sakes don,t want to mentinon selling anything on this discussion board but I have a customer of mine has a shed kept super sharp one duals all the way around.. Will start and move enough for loading but there is either a clutch problem or tns. I ask on here about 6 months ago he had offred it to me for $2500.00
I thought I would get it just to have but everyone on here talked me into passing. Funny
he just called the oter day to ask If I would make an offer.

ALLAN that series tractor always got my heart pumping. The problem that they had was they relied on farmer common sense which was disappearing because they relied on keeping the weight load down due to all wheels turning which reduced the need for extra weight.
