toro wheel horse melting fuses

1992 212-h toro wheel horse tractor has a fuse box with three fuses. if I leave the wire plugged in from the stator/charging unit the fuse will get so hot it will melt. not burn. was told it was bad fuse connections, so i changed the system over to a buss fuse holder system as the old system was the plastic plug type.no diff. can anyone help me...wtl

melting is usually do to poor contacts that cause heat.. over current will blow the fuse, poor contacts will melt the solder on the end of the fuse.

Probably has an idiot light for telling its charging, but not how much .
Make sure all wires + and - from battery to motor/ frame are tight and clean.
Check plug to key switch for corrosion
Not sure if that model has a rectifier or regulator. Could be bad.
