How long are porpolr lrsving gasoline in the gas tank on tractors and you standby generators. I have been told fas with ethonol in it will not keep long and will mess up carbs, , etc. What additieves are being used? Thanks Amo

W e here in IOWA have been using it for over 25yrs i have tractore that set over the winter and start just fine in the spring when i need them. Now different states have their own ideas about blending gasoline. S o where you live mite not be the same as here. Some on this board do seem to have problems.

When in doubt, use Sta-Bil for any gasoline you keep more than 2 weeks. My chainsaw dealer mechanic told me that.

I have only used regular unleaded in Jubilee (no ethanol) but have always added Sta-Bil to gas as tractor sits for weeks at a time. It even sat over the winter and started easily and ran o.k. on Sta-bil treated gas.
I have an old 15 hp. Johnson outboard and just burned up 3 gallons of ethanol treated with Sta-bil and some Seafoam. Ran fine after gas sat in tank since late fall.
I'd rather treat gas and leave some in tank rather than drain and have old tank rust. (This is fuel purchased in MN)

I personally never worry about gasoline with or without ethanol when it sits over winter. It is in the warm months that you have a problem from evaporation. I have seen engines, this was long before ethanol came on the market, that sat out in the hot sun for one month and carburetor looked like tar babies inside. I always treat my snow blower gasoline , as it sits over summer, never treat the outboard or lawnmowers that sit over winter. Ethanol will draw moisture though and that is a different problem and I don't use it on my two cycle engines.

i second the stabil, i use it in my backup generator and espicially 2 stroke equipment that sits like water pumps chainsaws tree saws ect i use my gas tractors every day and the diesel one doesnt seen to be affected by sitting, its just too large and heavy for most stuff i do this time of year, never have problems

Aw crap. If you're just leaving it set over winter or a few months don't bother doing anything. It'll be fine when you need it.
BTW, I've got some vitamins for sale that will cure all your ills, cheap.
