I have worked most of my life and not taken many vacations but always have enjoyed the simple things in life. If I live to retire I would like to travel around the U.S. a little. I know it is probably not feesable but it would be nice to travel and see some of the areas shown on this site. I know it is not a good thing nowadays to greet strangers and I understand why but if things where like they use to be I think it would be so neat to travel and stop in and meet some of the great people I type to and shake their hands

Just for my benefit, could you explain?

If someone is a different person on the web than when they stand in front of me, I wouldn't be too interested in spending much time with them-
Hope you get time to travel, and I'd sure buy you a beer and bratwurst if you showed up here-

Dave

Why don't you retire to live????? Semi ' retire??? Or heck just take some time off... I too live the simple life and enjoy every minute of it... There still are decent people in this country...

Hi Larry, Great idea. Myself I have been retired for 14 years. Have not had time to travel since being retired and not getting any younger.
Give me a email and prephaps you should/could take a short trip to Nova Scotia, it's not that far away. Cheers, Murray///// Note as of today I am attempting to start an old Pony tractor that I just re wired not having very good success in this hot weather. You could take a drive down now IF you know how to get this tractor to start.

no, I know its not a great idea just a thought I wouldnt think it is a good idea to invite because there is so many scams going on If things times were better it might be possible

Larry, I thought about you. Just got back last night. Departed Michigan went to Cleveland and checked out the tall sailing ships at the docks.Went clear across Pennsylvania (must be near Larry) to Dewey Beach, Delaware to visit relatives. Stopped at Longwood gardens (Piere Dupont's place) on the way home. Can't say enough about how beautiful it is at Longwood. Mark

Larry.Your pictures have ment a great deal to me and my family. Your quite an artist with your camera and your eye for beauty. Most cant see the things you see and the detail that you serve up in your pictures. It's a blessing to view your photos.AGAIn I want to thank you and this forum for making my waining years much better. WARMEST REGUARDS LOU.

Stick to the back roads, small owner operated restaurants and gas stations and you'll meet some of the best people in the World.I've traveled around a lot buying antique tractors and equipment and have met some very intersting people and nothing like an old piece of equipment on the truck to get some folks to start talking.Taking a day to go pickup old tractors or go to an auction have been my 'vacations'for years

LOU, thanks for the compliment, I never knew how to do any of this, all the fine people on this site taught me how to post pictures . I sent one about my neighbors chickens just for you Thanks again for your kind words

Hi Larry, When you take that trip,Be sure to stop off in "The Land of Enchantment" New Mexico, and bring that camera, I'll show you someneat old Goast towns...Jim in N M

Our local cattlemen's group has set up trips every year all over the US. So far they/we have hit every state in the continental US and all the Canadian provinces. Our Extension agent sets up 2-3 farm stops a day to visit with folks in different places. Its not quite the same but neither is it like cold calling strangers.

Hay Larry: you and I are only a matter of a half day drive apart. We both seam to share very common intrests. We have a really nice local (laid back) tractor show coming up the end of Aug.19-21 You are more than welcome to come up and join us. I can also find an extra day to give you and your family an extended tour of the southern Adirondacks that I call home, and post pics of frequently.

Wherever you go, try not to brag about where you're from, be as congenial and tolorant as you can and enjoy the special "character" of people in each area you visit...I personally would avoid most bigger towns and cities like the plague....but I suppose that's just me. I usta love Chicago and Detroit, now I'd consider having to go to either of those places punishment for something bad I'd done. San Frnacisco is something to see...and leave...LA about the same. I kinda liked Fort Worth and Atlanta...but not in summer, same with Orlando....Miami ain't my kind of town. That's my experiences. Everywhere in America the "open country" and it's people are beautiful.

You"re welcome any time here in NE Texas.

Might want to wait until its a little cooler to visit us in Texas; very hot and humid right now.

Best to visit with us at the farm in NE Texas; not much fun at the house in town at Hutchins, TX.

Two extra bedrooms at the farm; I still sleep in the smallest bedroom that was mine as a teenager.

Real easy to spend a day or two walking, talking, and showing off the family farm.

Also plenty of tractors and horses to brag about.

Don"t really consider most folks strangers on these forums; get to know folks pretty good by what they talk about and enjoy.

Keep posting your "picture postcards" from home; enjoy them a lot.

Dave if ya ever made it back to visit yer Home area its only three good rock skips to my parts .
