cutting tractor tire

Have old set of rusted rims with hubs and junk (good tread but rotten) tires I need to take to scrap.

What is a good way to cut the old tires off the rims?

Thanks.

Abrasive cutoff saw/blade in a hand circular saw, or grit blade in a saws all. The bead wires will ruin all other teeth. Jim

I have cut them around close to the bead with a Sawzall then use a Cold Chisel to cut the bead. Once the bead is cut it drops right off even if heavily rusted.

If you don't care about the rims you can get a little cut off wheel for an angle grinder and zip through the bead and the rim. A sawzall seems to be good for cutting the tire, a wood cutting blade is good in non-belted tires.

I burn the wires in the bead with a cutting torch. Fast and have not hurt a rim yet. Watch out for spitting rubber

A sawsall with a metal cutting blade that's been sharpened like a knife will slice right through the rubber. Cut the wire at the bead with a small cutoff wheel.

i had a front end out of an old combine i needed to do the same wiht and got the scrap place to use the pinchers on one of their track hoes to cut the tires off and put back on the trailer to keep from geting docked for them.

Save labour, if you have a pile of brush (and it doesn't have to be big)and put them on top and light on fire, that's what I do and get rid of the tire at the same time.

I cut the sidewall near the edge of the tread with a sharp carpet knife. Easy to pull the knife all around the tire where the wall is thin. Then I use the outer tread ring for feeders for the horses and cattle. If you cut the tread off like that, maybe you can find someone with livestock that wants them. Two of them stacked on top of eachother and bolted together makes a nice feeder that maybe you could sell for a few bucks. the rest of the sidewall I cut back with the carpet knife as close to the steel bands in the bead as possible, then use a air cutoff wheel to cut the bands.

I burned a brush pile last week in the afternoon to clean up where I'm going to be fencing. Dad forgot to tell me that he put a few tires in the pile last year. Wife said she could see the black smoke from 4 miles away on the way home from work.
