JD 346 Baler

Does anyone on this forum remember a guy who billed himself as the Hay Doc? He was somewhere east of Dallas and was an expert on square balers.

I have an issue with my JD 346 making side way bannana bales.

Thanks !!

Look in the implement forum on this site there has been a LOT of discussion on this topic in the last two months

The feeder forks that pull hay into the chamber from the auger need to be set to match the feed rate of hay going into the baler. There are three positions. Experiment with them and the driving speed . Also check the side compression doors back on the chute to make sure they are both adjusted the same.

It is a right hand bannana, doesn't seem to do all the time. I wasn't sure if I needed to adjust the sie compression doors and clamp down one side of the bale density adjustments.

Thanks so much for your advice

I remember as a kid some 45 years ago we had that problem on a 14T and the suggestion was to make sure the compression cranks were tightened equally, they were not.

It is an overhead feeder fork problem not compressor rack or side door. Once hay is compressed by plungerhead the side door or rack will not move hay one way or the other!

You have too much hay on the right side. See the adjustments for the overhead feeder fork (three positions). Make sure you follow the OM and check operation by rolling baler over by hand after the adjustment. You want to move more hay to the left side so the forks need to go further into the bale case.

I think I know the guy you're looking for, his name is Lynn Jones. North of of Grand Saline on FM 17 just across the river in Wood county. Don't have his number handy but he does know the green balers.

As already stated adjust feeder forks to pull "less hay" to the longer side or "more hay" to shorter side of the banana shape bale.

Also feed pickup on extreme RH end to allow auger to spread hay before it enters bale chamber.

Be sure compression springs and side doors are tightened equally.
