OT: Re: Travel Advice US36

Several posted about US 36 across Kansas being a good scenic route. I could have missed something but on Google maps it looked like US 36 begins in Ohio just east of I-77 (south of Canton) and mostly went all the way to Denver, Colorado. West of Denver, today's maps show only I-70 (could have originally been 36) going onto toward California. There were some places where it joins with other highways. US hwy 50 is another one of those older roads that has a lot of yesterday's countryside, just watch out for Barney Phife. This coming winter, wife and I want to drive old US hwy 54 from Illinois to New Mexico like we did when the interstate system was in its infancy in the 60's.

If you travel Hwy 50 through Kansas you will be only 15 miles from me. If you travel Hwy 54 through Kansas you will only be 20 miles from me. Both will, happen when you cross Hwy 75 either North{50} or South {54} of me . Either road is a real adventure.

I70 was spposed to replace US40 in Ohio And Indiana and they did indead take down the US40 signs for a while but there was such a stink raised that the goverment brought back US40. Here in Ohio US 40 and I70 are within 5 mile of each other with US36 about 20 mile north all going same direction.
