Hi I have a late seventies mustang skidloader that I am having some running problems with. It fires up and seems like it is running fine but when I start to move it the motor surges pretty bad. It stays runing nut jumps between reving way up and falling on it"s face. It has the Wisconsin four cylinder in it. Any ideas and advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Any sign of exhaust smoke?

If not, might turn the main jet out no more than a quarter turn at a time. It usually is on the bottom side of the carburetor.

Or a fuel problem , got good stream coming fron p1ug on the bottom of the carb ? Should be a 7/16 hex head or 1/8 square pipe plug to drain water...

The exhaust smokes like crazy but I know there is slot of moisture in the oil so that may be part of it

You may have an intake leak. I see this alot on old bobcat 610 with wisconsin. Also just had one that ran will bad, found the points so far gone, it burnt a whole through them, can't beleive it still ran.
