Linked below is an old post that has an item in which I am interested. My question is whether the B51326 is simply added to the existing jet in the carburetor or if a different jet specifically for the needle is required. The parts catalog I have seems to indicate that the needle is just added, replacing the plug. Thanks for your help.
The previous IH part number was 53 786 D.

If so, that is all you need. just remove the plug and replace it with this.
 
Yes, that looks like the part seen in illustrations from other sites. Several Wisconsin engines used the same basic carburetor as well as some Case and IH from before they merged.
One might assume that adding this to the existing jet would enable setting for leaner mixture, but running richer would not be possible.

I sold one of these to a gentleman who had drilled out the main jet, made it a bit too big, and the engine was running overly rich. This adjustable jet remedied that problem.
 
I have both jets here and they are different. The jet for the adjusting needle is tapered or chamfered more that the non adjustable jet to fit the shape of the needle. I have in the past drilled out the non adjustable jet and used an adjustable needle without chauffeuring the jet. It is a bit touchy to get just right but works good. If the correct non adjustable jet is being used the needle assembly is just an expensive plug.
