Can anyone tell me what year Oliver tractors had torque amplifiers? Or some call them power boosters. Iwant to put one on my 77 or 88 rowcrop pulling tractors. the 88 is a '57 the 77 is a diesel but I'm not sure of the year. they are both 'super's' thanks for any help. =) Karen

You are thinking of the Hydra Power units and I believe they did not come in till the later 770/880 tractors and the hundred series. You will have to custom fit one of those into a 77 or 88. You will probably get more attention and some good advice if you get this posted on the Oliver board ASAP.

The 'Power Booster Drive' was available on the 770 and 880 tractors. It predated the Hydra-Power Drive which came out in the 4-digit series.
Might be possible to install the Power Booster on an earlier model, but not sure of all the parts required. Would be easier to get a tractor that already has it and put your engine in it.

karen, the power booster was in the 770 And 880 series. the tub on the 770's and 880's is longer to make room for the power booster. i think you would be better off geting a 770 or 880. i had one in a 770 for years with no problems. the engine was making about 90 hp. i've heard once that a guy put a power booster in a 88 by putting a spacer between the tub and rear end. have fun, chuck
