Louisville Farmall Plant?

It shut down in the early 80's. (After Case took control) It was one of the most modern foundries in existance at that time. (Had just recently completed modernization) The plant was located on Crittenand (sp) Drive. It is now the site of a Fed Ex air freight hub and aircraft maintenance facility. (Part of Louisville International Airport grounds [Standiford Feild])

Get your facts straight. That air hub and maintenance facility is owned and operated by (UPS) United Parcel Service, not Fed Ex.

I got MY facts straight dillweed. The UPS freight hub is east of the FED EX maintenance facility. FED EX sits directly on the old Harvester property.

I drive through Crittenend Drive a couple times a week making stops at Fed Ex and Welding & Therapy Gas. I still have to force myself to believe that Harvester is gone. I remember seeing the lot full of Cubs and 574's

Howdy neighbor!

Yep. Part of the Harvester plant was turned over to Curtis Wright to build radial engines. The old Bremner bisquit plant next door made crushed grain plywood that was used to build British DeHavolin Mosquito twin engine bombers.

The address was Crittenden Drive, which runs past the west side if what was then Standiford Field, and is now Louisville International Airport. Any other spelling of the street name is incorrect.

When I was a kid, I had a lot of adult friends who worked there...Rex Brown, Jim "Quick-Draw" McGraw, and a lot of other good folks. "Quick-Draw" had a Travelall 3-seat wagon that he used to take other riders to the Harvester plant, which convinced Pappy he needed one, too...so we got ours in the spring of '64. Jim's was a '63, IIRC; ours was a '62, a factory exec unit that had under 30,000 miles on it. Pappy put the next 225,000 miles on it.
