Over the last 30 years I've built a lot of what most people would call toys. Quite a few transplant engine tractors among them. Some useable,a couple just for pulling,a half dozen just for fun. I always look for transplants with great interest and was wondering how many folks here have the same interest. I have a 3000 ford and a 302 engine that I've been working on. Have the bellhousing adapter almost finished, working on the clutch now that hays up. Would like to hear about others, finished or not.

Sounds like some KEWEL projects!

Back in about 1979 I installed a Chevy 350 in a 1974 Dorf pickup, along with some "Chevy Powered" decals.

SURE did shake up a couple of the local Dorf guys!

My GF liked the way it 'wheeled, though, making all the work worthwhile!

I haven't rounded up all the parts yet, but I want to build what I call the "hot rod hay rake tractor". "Hot rod hay rake tractor" is related to what I helped my dad put together, which was the "hot rod brush hog tractor" (Hot rod brush hot tractor=JD-60, +.125 power block. LP manifolds, performace cam, roller rockers). What I am wanting to put together is a unstyled JD-A front end with a styled A 6 speed rear end, with a power block and Heisler head engine. I have to have the high gear to help my father in law rake hay which requires some road travel on the shoulder of 4 lane HWY to get to, and I want to be able to go on tractor drives with it.

yeah, toys are fun. :)
We still use a pair of Olivers,(1950T and 2150) that we repowered with propane burning 454 Chevys 30+ years ago.
When we had dairy cows, my "barn cleaner" front end loader tractor was a GB moline chassis with a 383 Mopar engine.
Current small loader tractor is a reversed W9 powered by a 305 Chevy. Still use the stuff every day on our farm.

I've got a 2-71 Detroit diesel out of a scrapped out Allis crawler, and a chassis of a 44 Massey Harris.. and some tin off of a 33 Massey (extra hood and stuff I picked up at a salvage yard for the 33 gasser I been restoring)..

I figure they made a "44 Special"..

I'm wanting to create a 33 diesel special.. if nothing else, it'll be different.. And I like different.. (plus, I love the sound of the old Detroit's.. and said and done, it'll be a cheap Detroit powered unit.. as so far I have next to nothing invested.)

Love 2 stroker Detroits myself,I have a 318, a 6-71 and a 3-53 saved waiting for who knows what. Your MH sounds like a neat project.

I have a Massey 333 six cyl. Started with a 56 333 and put a 49 continental flathead six in it out of a Massey 44-6. My dad had one when I was a kid and I always liked how smooth it run. It"s built with all massey parts. Did this 25 years ago and still use it on the farm. Had a cousin that had a 283 in a 44 with an extra transmission and run it for years. Have a 67 chev 4x4 pickup with a 350 olds motor and a S-10 with a 283 and other toys. I just get a thrill out of repowerin stuff.
