Receiver hitch on a tractor...

Hey folks, this is the best picture I have on my computer but should be good enough.

I want to mount a hitch like this...

Only out of the way option I have is to make a plate that bolts to the 4 bolts (or the bottom two if that would be enough) you see on the plate where the lift arm chains are mounted. Would have to be bent at an angle so I could weld/bolt the hitch to it.

2 ????'s now.

1) how thick of material would I have to use to handle the hitch? Max trailer weight would be 3500 pounds now and then, but main purpose would be pulling a small 1000 pound trailer and just a drawbar for tedder, etc.

2) the ball mount/drawbar would have to be 16"-18" long. Maybe skip the 3500# trailer because of the tongue weight?

Any ideas are appreciated.

Here are a couple of ideas that can be purchased. Just entered "3 point hitch receiver" in google and these popped up.

Might give you some ideas about your configuration.

Where'd you find that deal you have on the tractor now, never saw anything like it.

The setups Kirk pictured are a dime a dozen, only caution is that if the back of the trailer gets heavy or you brake going down a steep hill they can rare up real bad, no downforce, so a tie-down chain is a good idea. But,t hey work real well, I got one, like it.

If you have the hitch plate in your pic, perhaps the holes fit up with a hitch bar as is, and you'd only need to add the vertical pice to tie into the top link.

Thanks Kirk. I already have a ball on my lift arm drawbar. Just want something that don't have any movement.
As for the hitch in place now, it is the common setup here even on most over the road trucks. Passenger vehicles and up to 3.5 ton trailers (campers, etc) have ball hitches. You'll looh hard to find a tractor without one of these mounted one way or another (or a place made for it).
