Hello everyone!

Wanted to introduce myself on this site, my screen name is Big 86 but my real name is Les. I live on my family's farm in Western IL, have one tractor so far but plan to have more someday. Tractor is a Ford with red paint, truck is a green Chevy. :) Always Lived in IL, farming and tractors are a big part of my life, not currently a farmer but hope one day to farm my own ground. Right now I am just a wannabee.

I wanted my handle to be farm related, so I picked Big 86. The first tractor I rode in was a JD 8640, and since I was only a few years old at the time that thing was a big tractor to me. Dad usually called it the "86", and I called it the "Big 86". So that is why I picked Big 86, the first tractor I rode in. Lots of memories riding around in that tractor, from field cultivating, moldboard plowing, and chisel plowing always enjoyed the ride.

Okay, that's a little about me. I look forward to being a part of this site, always something to learn about tractors. Have a nice evening!

JR meant to say "welcome Big 86" but his rudeness and burning desire to hijack other folks' posts cause he's too lazy to type his own header got in the way................

Welcome.

Welcome to the YT forums.

This website is a good place to learn what you need and share what you know.

A lot of experience on this site; some of us are even outstanding in our field.

Welcome again.

Welcome!!

I spent some time working near Altona, Illinois a long time ago...still keep in touch with the folks I worked for after 53 years. Are you from anywhere near there?

Stan

Howdy Neighbor,
I'm in East Central Illinois, just SW of Champaign a ways.
I don't claim to know a d*mn thing, but sure do enjoy "Tractor Talk".
Medically can't do much, but do what I can.
Have a few toys.
Glad to hear from somebody else in Illinois.
OH--By the way, I had a "Troll" bother me on one of my posts, and quit comin here for awhile.
My advice--don't let the trolls bother you.
Lots of knowledge, humor, and good people here.
Take care,
Dan (Your Neighbor)

On Edit: James Howell, Thank you.
My wife and I both got a kick out of how outstanding in your field you are.

Glad you liked the photo and caption.

Many, many years ago I saw a cartoon drawing of a farmer standing in a field with the caption "Outstanding in His Field".

Thought the same would be appropriate on occasion on this forum.

Good to see another Illinoisan on the forum! If there's a dirt track near you chances are I've been there. I'm on the other side of the state 'bout 50 mi south of Chi-town.

Thanks for all the replies! Spent part of today out on the farm with friends, riding along in a JD 9500 combine harvesting corn. Had a great time, weather is perfect and listening to that turbo diesel engine working sure is a sweet sound. I wish I had taken some pics but I forgot the camera. Oh well there is always next time. :)
