Would like to ask the fellow farmers a question about dirty clothes! What do your wifes like for a good washer? We need a good washer to clean my clothes after haying, fixing equipment, working around the cows ect. Looking at a whirlpool top load non agatior kind. Sorry for the off topic, but its kinda tractor/farm related. Thanks JayinNY

Leave the e.l. cheapos alone. I have to disassemble mine twice a year to scrub the outside of the basket and the inside of the tub. Gets buildup and everything smells sour. Not sure what causes it,

Try a half cup of vinegar every couple of loads.

As for a good machine, get a front loader.

It is not the machine but what you use for soap. When I have real dirty stuff I use a mix of soaps to get things clean. Ya my wife has no clue to it but any how. I use dish soap laundry soap and shampoo and a bit of orgango hand soap

We've had front loaders since 1955. Our first was a Bendix and we now have Sear's Elite. You need to use the HE detergent and you need to clean the washer peroidically. The instructions are in the owner's manual. Use only the amount of detergent that's recommended. I would suggest getting a service policy too. I have one on ours, but I didn't get it through Sears.
