Garden Farming in S.E. China!

I believe Murray Hebblethwaite took this picture of a garden tractor being used as a highway vehicle, while visiting South-East China in 1987.

Murray,

What's it like when a clerk asks Murray to spell Murray's name? Does it take four or five trys before Murray's clerk gets it right?

I know what Murray is going to say. "Murray simply reaches into Murray's wallet and hands the clerk Murray's business card". Am I close?

You're not sure? I wonder if Murray Hebblewaite even visited South-East China in 1987? I believe Murray Hebblewaite has a split personality or suffers from amnesia and can't remember what he's done or where he's been. Dave

If a person looks close enough you will see this vehicle could have a dumping box, note the post and pulley! Here is a very INNOVATIVE Chinese Farmer using a simple means to make his work easier!

Yeah, I built a similar trailer when hand-digging out a portion of the cellar of my barn. I hung a one ton chainfall on the top of the pipe. That got old fast so I put a scissor lift under the bed. Hydraulic power came from a by-pass manifold and valve from the Cub hydraulics.

I seen this being used in Korea in '82 and I seen them this morning in China. This also doubles as mode of transportation for the family.

Reminds me of what we see depicted in photos for India and Pakistan.

A Houston, TX Ford dealer used to sell tractors and one of the two wheeled tractors he had with cart was similar. What surprised me was the PTO coming from the two wheeled tractor back through the trailer tongue to also drive a differential of the trailer thus making it all wheel drive.

Not sure what brand it was but most of what were stocked were Pasquali tractors. Many were orchard models and articulated similar to the one seen at the link.
Articulated orchard tractor. Brand unknown.

Same basic setup works in the good ol USA with a Gravely, Planet Jr, BCS type rig. We just aren't used to this idea.

I'm also in Guangxi. Wuzhou. The Only Gweillo In the Village.

What I find fascinating about these jalopies is most of them have diesel engines. One cylinder, water-cooled, but not a pressure system. They put along with steam boiling out the top. Not all are electric start either.

Yangshuo here... Lots of crank start models here too. They are rough riding but fun to drive! Havent bothered trying to plow a rice paddy with a water buffalo tho, thats just a little too antique of farm equipment for me!
