OT Why fish for leeches?

I read a thread that started out talking about liver, then progressed on to catfish, then ended up mentioning using liver in pantyhose to fish for leeches.

I don't think we have many leeches around here.

Why would one fish for leeches?
 
Leeches are sometimes use by hospitals to suck out Blood clots from bad bruises

They also use maggots to eat dead flesh from burn sites.

Both good fishing bait.
 
My wife is a home health nurse, has been a nurse for close to 20 years now. Not one time had she ever used leeches or maggots! She was taught about using them, but never used them, and once she asked about it and was told that was not legal to do because it didnt have AMA approval, and if it had been used by a doctor, he could easily go to jail for it. 3 years ago, AMA approved it for use on certain patients. She has one patient, accually several, who still have all of their limbs now because of the use of maggots!
 
There are plenty in ponds here.Brown witn orange bottoms.Slugs and corn earworms make good fish bait.
 
stopped at a store for fishin supplies and one of the things was a dozwn leechs well they were training a new girl on the register the older lady training new girl sees the leaches and tells miss newbie "you have to count those leechs" well the new girl looked like she was gonna bolt or something and i couldnt help my self and broke out laughing...too funny wish i had gotten a photo of her face
 
yes and to my understanding leeches is why you don't see many professional boxers with black eyes.
