I was planning on putting up a small corn crib this coming spring. Nothing big, just enough to feed 2-3 pigs cob corn. Where can a guy find plans to build one???

I don't know why you people that are supposedly farmers keep trying to feed pigs ear corn,It just goes right thru them and is wasted.shell it and grind shelled corn so that they have a chance to digest it.Pigs don't need nor should they have all that cob anyway.for a couple of pigs you could be more cost effective to buy a mixed feed unless you want to take a year to finish them out

The standard was 70# ear to 56# of sheld and ear 2 1/2 cu ft to 1 1/4 cu ft for shelled corn. Now depending on variety if small cob and deep kernels will shell out to more pounds than a large cob with short kernels will. There used to be 1 elevator that never weighed a load of ear corn for sale and they shelled it all and then weighed the shelled corn because of all the different shell out factors. And there were many a million hogs fattened out on ear corn.

Nah, they waste a little bit, but they end up eating almost all of the kernels as long as you don't through the ears in manure. They don't eat the cobs unless you grind it and the cobs they leave behind gives them a bit of bedding for the cold. If you're just raising a hog or two for the meat throwing ear corn at them is just fine IMO.

I forget the site, but just google it. Think it was university of nevada agricultural plans. Skads of free downloads.
