Best tractor ride tractor

I'm sure this will start a war, but what's your opinion of the best tractor ride tractor. Not terribly partial to any one color. Don't want to spend a fortune, but want a nice operating tractor. Any opinions are appreciated.

I like Olivers for the ride comfort and the easy access to the operator's station . Also the open area at your feet and the fenders. Just my 2 cents worth.

Amen to that, I had one for about 5 years. Big, bouncy ride. To listen to that IH-H bark along while pushing snow is great.

virtualy any tractor with enough speed to keep up with the others is just fine, the overall condition of the tractor is more important than the color of it, any tractor ride tractor needs to have excelent brakes, decent tires overall it needs to be fully reliable, nothin more embarrasing then you and your tractor having to be hauled the rest of the way on the breakdown trailer after your tractor quits on you a hour into the ride, after you told everybody how good it was

Here are some suggestions for a nice high ride:

IHC B - maybe BN- with extra seat for passenger. It's the extra seat space that makes it good for parades and moderate speed rides. Fairly good little garden tractor, light field use also. Color is red to be seen, argue with the JD greenies. RN

Almost any tractor will work. It has to be reliable, start easy, round tires (so you don't bounce), tight steering, so you don't have to herd it down the road, exhaust is shot out of the way, excelent brakes and good tires, must generate unless you have a mag, no major oil leaks (if it leaks out of the clutch area you will have a tire and rim covered with oil at the end of the ride.) Use common sense-IT NEEDS TO BE RELIABLE.

James, the tour reminded me of the bare areas that you seeded down last spring. How did they come out?

Two areas did really good.

Here are some before and after photos between cuttings.

Nancy did quite a bit of "watering" during the dry spells.

After the first cutting we fertilized a second time applying 3000 pounds of 21-7-14 fertilizer.

It started raining within 2 hours after we finished and rained for 4 days.

My choice was a Massey Ferguson 65. Power to pull a fully loaded wagon and disc brakes that would stop a freight train. I changed the exhaust to vertical to keep from gassing the kiddies. I changed the generator to an alternator to supply the needed juice for lighting and a trailer brake controller. Any reliable tractor with good brakes and lighting would be a canidate.

You want one that you are not in a cramped position, something you can move your legs around on once in a while and possibly something that you can stand up on to keep your circulation up so at the end you can still walk.

Looks like you got a real nice catch there. I seeded a small part of one field in early August because the owner decided to dry a wet area by bringing in fill. The county needed their seeder back so I had to do it then. I haven't looked very closely at it but it looks like not much came up but weeds.

You will never find a better tractor than a CASE small block two tone COM. tractor for tractor rides. The converter drive trans. gives you unlimited speed options in each gear from low to 20-25MPH road gears. My wife loves my son's 411B. No effort to push clutch pedal when and if you need to, (operates the same as your car with auto tranny, gas and break pedal)You can put it in high gear and go slow or go fast, The Case two tone colors are real crowd pleasers, and the only other tractor colors that draw as much attention are the vintage Cockshuts.People see Red, Green, Gray vintage tractor every day.

duno about a parade tractor, but my IH 584 has a bostrom seat on it, bouncing through the fields hitting armydillo holes feels much better on it than dad's JD420

How about going on a ride on a nicely restored M M RTU with an original M M cab.? If it was cool or wet , setting in it would be nice. clint

And 6 cylinder engines are a lot easier to tolerate than 4's, especially the higher horsepower models. I used an Oliver 1550 for years, then foolishly sold it, got an IH 674. Noisy, irritating dam thing. Got rid of it after 2 years, back to Olivers.

Any tractor will get you there, but there is nothing better then the sound of a JD 2cyl. doing it !
